ROTATIONAL MOTION LAB
Unit Overview:
During
this unit you will engage in several activities that show properties of
rotational motion. You will observe vector direction and magnitude and how
velocity and acceleration are dependent or independent upon the radius and
shape of a circle. You will also perform calculations and formulate conclusions
based upon the simulation.
Pre-Lab Questions
Answers questions 1 through 5 before completing the laboratory
exercises.

Lab, click on this link: http://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/rotation
You can download the lab to your
desktop. It is wise to house all of the simulations in a folder so you can
refer back to them when needed.
This is a screenshot of the simulation.
When you see this screen, click on
“Run Now” or “Download” if you are saving it in a folder.
Download the printable worksheet
below, you will use this to record all of your lab information. You will attach
your worksheet to question #6 in the question section.

Looking
Ahead:
In
the next unit, we will be learning about the dynamics of fluids. We learn about
density and pressure and how they relate to one another. We will also explore
very famous ideas and equations written by Pascal and Archimedes. We will also
be exploring buoyancy and how velocity affects fluids in motion.
Below are additional educational resources and activities for this unit.
