Find three circular objects in your home, all different sized circles. Use a ruler to measure the diameter in centimeters to the nearest tenth of a centimeter (eg. 5.1 cm). Use a string or yarn to wrap around the circle, then extend it out in a straight line and measure the length in centimeters to the nearest tenth. When you do this, you are measuring the circumference (distance around the circle). Use a string that doesn’t stretch easily for better results. Print out the chart and record the results. Measure to find the circumference and diameter. Divide to find C ÷ d. You may use a calculator to divide. Use the data you gathered and computed to answers questions #9 through #12.

9)

For the first item in the table, what is the name of the item measured, its circumference, its diameter, and the results for C ÷ d ?
