2) Mandy wanted to see if sunflowers grew taller in sandy soil or rich soil for her science fair project. Using five seeds from her grandmother’s sunflowers, she planted Sunflower Plot A on the north side of the tool shed in her yard where the soil was rich and loamy. Then she planted five sunflower seeds from a package of purchased seeds on the south side of her Aunt Millie’s porch in the next town, where the ground was sandy. Aunt Millie watered her plants for her each day. Mandy didn’t water the ones in her yard because the soil there seemed to hold water pretty well. Mandy can’t wait to see which sunflowers grow the tallest. Explain the problem with Mandy’s experiment and support it with one detail. |
