Unit Overview

In this unit, you are going to work with the symbols displayed to compare numbers. You will also learn about the "alligator mouth" which will help you remember the difference between the greater than and the less than symbols.

 

Symbols Used to Compare Numbers


65 > 2          65 is greater than 2.


19 < 40        19 is less than 40.


18 = 18       18 is equal to 18.

An easy way to remember the symbol is to think of an alligator's mouth.  He is very, very hungry!  He wants his mouth to open towards the larger number!
