Unit Overview

Welcome to your second project! In these last few units, we have talked about different types of maps and how to read them! We have also talked about the different uses of each type of map. For this unit, you are going to create your own kind of map! You have learned about political and physical maps as well as alphanumeric grids. The choice is up to you which you would like to create! The map can be anything. It can be your neighborhood, city, your street, your state, or it can be completely made up. However, it must include these things:

Objectives

-        Have a map title

-        Have a map key (legend)

-        Have a Compass Rose

-        Display knowledge of what map you are creating

Where do I start?

1.   Decide what type of map you would like to create. (Political, Physical, Alphanumeric Grid)

2.   What location do you know the best that you can draw? Pick that place.

3.  Think of a title for your map.

4.   Grab a sheet of paper and start drawing!

5.  Be sure to use colors in your map.

6.  After you have completed everything, go to the Answer Questions tab on the left. Upload your map there as an attachment.

Remember, this does NOT have to be fancy or on a big poster board. A sheet of paper will do.

Below are examples of what your map could look like.
