Unit Overview

Students will look at the 95 departments that divide up the country. Each number corresponds to part of the postal code in France. The post office in France has many more features like the United States system. Students will read the short summary in French about “Le code postal”.

Introduction

You will examine the two websites about the various departments in France, which are like counties in the US. You will then look at the short summary about “Le Code Postal” and translate the section. Answer the questions that follow in the question section.

La France est divisée en 96 départements. Chaque department a un numéro. Le numéro du department fait partied un code postal et se trouve aussi sur la plaque d’immatriculation de la voiture. (license plate)

Aux États-Unis on écrit toujours sur une envelope l’état où habite le destinataire. En France on n’a pas besoin de mettre le nom du department, on écrit seulement le nom de la ville, precede du code postal.

Le code postal de Paris commence par 750 suivi du numéro de l’arrondisment. Le code postal d’une personne qui habite dans le septième est 75007. Quel est le code postal d’une personne qui habite dans le seizième?
