RIGHT TRIANGLES AND TRIGONOMETRY

Right triangles are found everywhere. Just look around and find them in the construction of houses, furniture, boxes, and numerous other objects that are made with corners that meet at ninety degree angles. The Pythagorean Theorem is used to find the lengths of the sides of a right triangle. Another application of the right triangle is found in the study of trigonometry which is used when surveying and determining distances. The tangent function is one of the trig ratios that is used often when solving problems about angles of elevation and angles of depression. Some right triangles are very common and used often. Two such triangles are the 45-45-90 degree triangle and the 30-60-90 degree triangle.
