Unit Overview

In this unit, you will learn what an angle is and you will be able to classify the various types of angles.  




Angles


An angle is the amount of turn between two straight lines that have a common end point (the vertex).

This angle is a right angle.  Right angles make a square corner.
 
 
 

Angles smaller than a right angle are called acute angles.


 
 
 

Angles larger than a right angle are obtuse angles.
 
 
 
This is a straight angle.

Measuring Angles

We use a protractor to measure angles.  We measure angles in degrees.
