COMPARE AND ORDER FRACTIONS



Unit Overview

In this unit, you will work with fractions.  You will first look at many ways to express the whole number "1" as a fraction using whole circles divided into parts to represent "one".  You will then represent fractions on a number line diagram.

 

 

Fraction Circles

These fraction circles are in order starting with:

 

1 whole    2/2    3/3    4/4    5/5    6/6    7/7    8/8    9/9    10/10    12/12

 

Look closely and see that the bigger denominator (bottom number), the smaller the piece.

In this unit, you are going to be putting fractions and mixed numbers in order.

Remember, that all of these fraction circles are equal to 1 whole circle.
